1 Poincaré invariance for continuous - time histories

We show that the relativistic analogue of the two types of time translation in a non-relativistic history theory is the existence of two distinct Poincaré groups. The ‘internal’ Poincaré group is analogous to the one that arises in the standard canonical quantisation scheme; the ‘external’ Poincaré group is similar to the group that arises in a Lagrangian description of the standard theory. In ...

Entropy operator for continuous dynamical systems of finite topological entropy

In this paper we introduce the concept of entropy operator for continuous systems of finite topological entropy. It is shown that it generates the Kolmogorov entropy as a special case. If $phi$ is invertible then the entropy operator is bounded with the topological entropy of $phi$ as its norm.

Branching Continuous Time and the Semantics of Continuous Action

It is often useful to model the behavior of an autonomous intelligent creature in terms of continuous control and choice. For example, a robot who moves through space can be idealized as able to execute any continuous motion, subject to constraints on velocity and accelleration; in such a model, the robot can %hoose = at any instant to change his accelleration. We show how such models can be de...

Filtering in continuous time by least action

0. The reason I volunteered for the working group on continuous-time filtering problems was because it seemed to me that in the other areas probably the best you could hope to achieve was some improvement of existing ‘bread-and-butter’ SMC methods, whereas in continuous time there was much more scope for novelty. In particular, in continuous time you have all the tools of stochastic calculus, s...
